More than 50,000 thermal spa visitors since the beginning of this year. Termas de Chaves records a historic number of clients.

The Wellness segment experienced the strongest growth, with an increase of nearly 50% compared to the same period in 2025. In the Aquae Salutem Thermal Complex alone, nearly 42,000 entries were recorded.

This is a historic milestone for Termas de Chaves. From January 1 to September 22, 2026, the Thermal Spa registered over 50,000 visitors, consolidating unprecedented demand across its various treatments, services, and experiences. The Wellness segment was the most popular, recording 47,009 visitors—15,172 more than in the entirety of last year (31,837). Therapeutic Thermalism also saw higher demand, reaching 3,127 medical spa visitors, an increase of 412 compared to the same period in 2025 (2,715).

According to Nuno Vaz, Mayor of Chaves, the results reflect the growing recognition of the municipality's thermal offerings. “These figures reinforce what we had already been observing: Termas de Chaves plays an increasingly vital role in both national and international thermal tourism. The growth of Aquae Salutem also demonstrates Chaves' ability to reach new audiences, particularly younger generations, and to solidify an ever more comprehensive thermal offering,” he emphasizes.

The Aquae Salutem Thermal Complex stands out in particular. By September 22, a total of 41,901 entries were registered, 15,876 more than in 2025 (26,025). Year-on-year analysis shows a growth of over 60%, highlighting the popularity of this facility, which opened on March 22, 2025.

In light of this development, Brigite Gonçalves, Director of Termas de Chaves, highlights the growth seen across different areas of their offering and anticipates that this trend will continue in the coming months. “Growing simultaneously in Therapeutic Thermalism and Wellness is a very positive indicator. We have been diversifying our range of services without losing the health-focused core that defines Termas de Chaves, and these results show that we are successfully catering to different visitor profiles and motivations,” she states.

“We believe this growth trajectory and positive figures will hold through the end of the year. The Wellness Low Season, offering highly attractive conditions, provides a great opportunity for more people to discover us and enjoy our extensive thermal offerings,” adds Brigite Gonçalves.

The Wellness Low Season, which began on September 16, 2026, will run through July 14, 2027, featuring more affordable pricing on treatments and experiences in this segment.
